KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Some RM28 million has been allocated to build a new quarters that will house 120 families comprising Public Works Department (JKR) staff who are now staying at the Mile 2 1/2 in Cheras here.
The allocation was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak after spending about 30 minutes of walkabouts at the quarters Saturday."I was told of the ramshackle condition of the quarters by Works Minister Datuk Shaziman (Abu Mansor) recently."He suggested that I carry a walkabout here so that I can see for myself the conditions that the JKR staff have to live with."Based on the requirements and the government's commitment to resolve the housing problem faced by government staff in general and JKR staff in particular, we will take an urgent step to build a new quarters in Mile 4 1/2, Jalan Sungai Besi, involving 120 units of Class G flats," he told reporters.
Najib, who is Finance Minister, said the units would be housed in two eight-storey residential blocks. Each unit would have a 110 sq meter area, with three bedrooms, three washrooms as well as a living room, dining area and kitchen. The new quarters would also be provided with 200 car parking lots, playground, kindergarten, surau and two futsal courts."The project is expected to cost RM28 million. The JKR will call a tender soon and we expect the project to be completed in 30 months, afterwhich JKR staff currently living in dilapidated quarters will be allowed to move in," he said.

Oleh itu harga seunit RM233K. Walhal tanah.. kerajaan punya. Kenapa mahal sangat untuk 3 bilik ni..? Biasanya RM140K pun dah OK.! Dan termasuk harga tanah...!!
