THE BIG QUESTION!

What a big waste!

Alhamdulillaah, wa swalatu wa salam alaa Rasulillaah!

A brother gave a very thoughful speech regarding how to use our time properly. Here is a summary of what he said:

Let's see how much an individual worships Allah if he is to live for 60 years and pray 5 times a day.
Fajr would take about 15 minutes,
Dhuhr would take about 20 minutes,
Asr would take about 10 minutes,
Magrib would take about 15 minutes and
Isha would take about 25 minutes.

That would on average equal to 1 hour and 45 minutes of worship everyday.

Now, there are 30 days every month, so the person would worship about 43.5 hours per month.
There are 12 months every year, so he would worship about 522 hours per year.

Now, if he lives for 60 years then he had worshipped for 31,320 hours.
To convert this total hours into years, it comes to about 3 years and 6 months!!!

So, a man living for 60 years have only spent 3.6 years in worshipping Allah in the form of Salah, that is also if he started praying before reaching the age of 1.

THE BIG QUESTION!

What about the other 56 years of his life?
In order to turn that into ibadah, we have to do everything according to Qur'an and Sunnah. For example, if we sleep according to sunnah then 20 years would be counted as ibadah which we spent sleeping (8 hours of sleep is 1/3 of a day.

So, 1/3 of 60 years is 20 years!). Similarly, all other actions will be counted as ibadah if we do them according to Qur'an and Sunnah. So, let us try to turn all our life into ibadah, rather than depending on prayers alone which won't even turn a fraction of our life into ibadah.

Let's have an ever quenching drink from the Haud [pool] of Your Prophet Muhammad [SAW].
